I got some advanced copies of the book I did with Impact! Isn't that title beautiful? It was the working title, but editor and the higher-ups liked it.

You guys... it's all... pink, green, and grey. *_* Maybe I was channeling it. Or maybe their layout lady took it from my site. Well, whatever. It's kinda awesome

Been looking at info on Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana... whatever you wanna call it). And I am just.... I am so worried.

Los Baños, Laguna is my hometown and I lived there until my early teens and... I have never seen a typhoon hit this hard. Family friends and former classmates still live there and... ngh. I hope they're ok. Phone calls will be attempted in a bit. I doubt we'll get through, but you never know. I'll just be really uneasy until we hear from them. Nngh.

Trip summary

The ~~incomplete~~ summary of my trip to Seattle and Canada and meeting CFUDers.

My first day there. Mornings are interesting times.

Picking up America at the airport

America is sometimes very IC (so is everyone, really... but I like picking on America).

And then we went to Canada. Here is Zazzle... being Zazzle.

At a tea house. In which some old ladies overheard us being dorks. And they took a photo.

Canada shows up. Kinda.

I get left behind. Buying candy.

Loved the look on the other tourists' faces as Canada flailed away.

So, we were just kickin' it in front of the... idk what building that was, minding our own business. When we were accosted by Red Robin employees doing some sort of team building scavenger hunt thing. And they needed a human pyramid. And this is why Canada is now the best country I've ever visited.

(those two Red Robin dudes on the bottom row are representing France and Japan. So we can has G8. Mulan is on the bottom right, and that's the Riku replica next to America).

I don't have time right now to draw stuff from the epic karaoke night of epicness, so those'll have to wait. ^^;

Anywho, back from Seattle which I now LOVE. Trees and water and azns and good food and things to DO and ~~Hempfest~~ awesome. I don't even have the words to thank llamrei and katmaxwell for letting me hobo it up at their place for a week. You two are beautiful. You're beautiful. It's true. I saw your face(s) in a crowded place. And I don't know what to do, 'Cause I'll never be with you.

-Going to Seattle in about a week and a half. I have acquired my ticket. Flying from San Luis Obispo to San Francisco to Seattle. The flight from SF might be extra fun. We'll see how that goes. ^_^

- ... It's my parents 30th wedding anniversary tomorrow (technically today). Aaah it's kinda adorable. I went with my mom the other day to help pick out his super sekrit presents.

-Oh! I had a lovely time in San Francisco two weeks ago. Took lots of pics, but mostly as reference photos. I'll post a few later.
Highlights of Friday: Dinner at the Slanted Door (if you go, get the yellowtail appetizer, and the litchi granita dessert. A++), kids having a dance battle at the Embarcadero (bitches were crowding me, so I don't have video),
Saturday: San Francisco museum of Modern Art. That Richard Avedon exhibit is amazing. The Wanda Sykes show was hilarious and fantaaastic. Sh'e so awesome.
Sunday: Didn't have to wait too long in line for breakfast at Mama's on Washington. China town your produce so fresh and cheap. *_*

That city is awesome, I wish I lived there, I left without spending as much as I do at Comic Con and I wasn't hungover so yay.

-- Not going to Comic-Con this year. Thus ends the 6 year streak. ;_; God, that con is expensive. Gonna go to San Francisco with my bro instead... gonna go watch a Wanda Sykes show and wander about.

-- Went to AX on Thursday. Haven't been to AX for three years? Maybe four? I forget. It was pretty nice. I like actually having room to walk around, and the booths were spaced pretty far apart.

Had lunch with greenapple2004 Hadn't seen you in forever! So glad we could hang out for a bit. ^_^

The Exhibit Hall isn't all that exciting after you've been to Japan. Also now I know for sure that a lot of vendors mark up the prices.

Bought some stuff at the carpediemstore.com booth. Got a medium Wacom Intuos4 for $295+tax. Still a good deal. Check Amazon... I speak truths. Also bought some Copic markers for 3.50 each. Seems pricey, but those fuckers are usually $5-ish. Also some .03 pencil lead (score!), and then I bought one of those Copic marker wallets.

Aritst Alley was more interesting. Ran into pinkchan when she was signing in that morning for AA. We chatted it up, and then I looked behind us and it Emily Warren and Christina Strain so I said sup. Ah they're such good colorists ;_;

Bought some prints from bluef0x and might've gotten some Pinkberry stickiness on her America!gloves during the brofist. Sorry dude. :T Got a couple more things from other tables and I didn't take note of who they were because I am dumb and now I dunno if they have sites I can stalk.

And I am a weirdo and didn't take any pics except for the parking garage (I might need those as reference pics ok) and the fucking awesome building for the Los Angeles HIgh School of Performing Arts. Those kids are lucky bastards.

Also, I remembered how much I hate driving in L.A. and its goddamn unprotected left turns. But I didn't have to get on the 405 at all this time, which kinda ~~but not really~~ made up for it.

Aaanyway. Let's get past that awkwardness so I can talk about my conversation with the Apple tech support. Cuz it was weird and wonderful.

I installed updates on the iMac, restarted it, and then... nothing. It wouldn't boot up the OS. The loading gear just kept spiiiinning. This was around 10 pm Thursday. Naturally, I couldn't sleep and just stayed awake until the Apple Tech support opened at 6 am. and I called them up at 6 on the dot.

I got this dude who seemed like a patient and friendly tech support guy. He started taking me through processes to hopefully get my comp to boot. I had to do a lot fo restarting and waiting... and since I hate awkward silence, I started some awkward conversation. Then it got more fun (as I watched progress bars on the comp).

So I found out dude was Canadian and I mentioned the pics of Stephen Harper and the sweatervests and kittens (insert his shock at an American knowing who Stephen Harper is) .... and he said I couldn't have seen pictures because Stephen Harper was a vampire (is every Canadian in on this joke or something?!), and of course I made G20 jokes.

During the hour I spent on the phone, we made fun of Lithuania (stop being so contradictory, Lithuania) and Europe in general, he said Vancouverites were tweakers and said Toronto was better, we agreed that I wasn't really on the phone and was actually getting tech support from the Canadian igloo god in a dream vision. At some point, I said I drew comic books and dude was stoked and said he wanted to open a comic book store cuz he was a comic book nerd.

Best tech support call ever. Also Canadians are adorable.

And my iMac works now. It was my fault anyway. I'm never putting off update installs ever again. Also, I just ordered a 1 TB external hard drive. :T
